U.S. carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) for SMS on your AI Biz Voice number—what it is, why it exists, and how we guide you through it inside the app.
Text Message Approval is our in-app name for the U.S. carrier registration process widely known as A2P 10DLC. When you send application-triggered SMS to U.S. mobile subscribers from a standard 10-digit local number, major carriers expect your business and your messaging use case to be registered. That registration is separate from simply buying a phone number or turning on SMS in software.
Completing approval helps protect deliverability so messages such as appointment updates, call summaries, and account notifications are less likely to be filtered or blocked.
Until your sender is approved for the type of number you use, carriers may treat outbound SMS as unregistered traffic. In practice, that often means messages to U.S. numbers do not deliver reliably—or fail with registration-related errors—until you finish Text Message Approval (or the separate toll-free verification path, if you use a toll-free sender).
AI Biz Voice enforces sender-level approval status so you see a clear state in the dashboard instead of silent failures.
No. Business customers complete Text Message Approval inside AI Biz Voice (Dashboard → Phone numbers → Text Message Approval, or the Text Message Approval screen for your chosen sender). We submit the technical registration to our messaging provider on your behalf. You do not need to log into a carrier or third-party console to finish the standard flow.
SMS features—including the ability to start Text Message Approval—are tied to your subscription tier. On current AI Biz Voice plans, the Solopreneur tier and above include SMS; Starter and trial-style tiers do not unlock SMS for messaging workflows. If you submit approval while on a non-SMS tier, the API will block registration until you upgrade.
Exact tier names and limits may change; the feature check in your account always wins.
Carrier registration has costs on top of your AI Biz Voice subscription. In the dashboard, the Registration Fees box on Text Message Approval lists typical amounts we display for planning: about $4.50 one-time for a low-volume standard brand, about $15 one-time campaign vetting, and roughly $1.50–$10 per month for the campaign depending on classification. Those numbers mirror what the messaging ecosystem charges; always use the live figures in the app for your session.
When your registration is approved, we may create a separate one-time invoice and charge the payment method on file—see the notice on the same screen. If anything is unclear, email [email protected].
Many submissions move within a few business days. Reviews are run by registries and carriers, not by AI Biz Voice, so some applications sit in pending state longer—occasionally two weeks or more during backlogs or when extra verification is needed.
While a sender is not approved, you should expect limited or no reliable SMS delivery to U.S. numbers from that sender, even if voice works normally.
Approval is tracked per sender phone number so carrier records stay aligned with the line that actually sends traffic.
Carriers reject campaigns when consent sounds mandatory—for example, requiring an SMS checkbox to finish a purchase or receive service. Your description must make clear that SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase or service. The Text Message Approval screen includes guidance and can reference a hosted opt-in page you can use as evidence of your workflow.
Use sample messages that match what you will really send. Mismatch between samples and live traffic can trigger suspensions with the provider.
Keep legal business name, DBA, website, and tax or registration details consistent with documents and your public presence—mixed signals are a common delay. The campaign description must name the same website you registered for the brand. Privacy and Terms pages should live on that site. Reviewers also reject opt-in flows where the customer cannot finish a form or receive service without agreeing to SMS; the hosted opt-in page must allow “continue without SMS.”
The rejection reason appears in the app (and may be mirrored by email from the provider). Two frequent campaign notes:
Update the affected fields, then resubmit from the same flow.
AI Biz Voice does not control the final yes/no; we surface the outcome and help you correct resubmissions where possible.
Incoming and outbound SMS for that sender operates within your plan limits and product settings (for example, follow-up SMS and customer-facing messages you configure). New numbers may require their own approval if they are separate senders; check each line's status under Phone numbers.
Contact [email protected] and include your account email, the phone number you are registering, and any rejection text you see.
